Speaker Bio

Fr. Eric Nielsen is a priest with the Legionaries of Christ, a Roman Catholic Congregation of priests and religious, headquartered in Rome, Italy. He was born in Seattle, WA in 1971, and lived there until his entry into the Legionaries of Christ in September of 1991. He was ordained a priest on December 24th, 2005. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Athenaeum, Regina Apostolorum in Rome, and has a License (equivalent to a Master’s Degree) in Dogmatic Theology from the same institution.


His first priestly assignment was to found the Legionaries of Christ in the Philippines, in 2006, where he dedicated himself primarily to youth and young adult ministry. In 2015 he returned to the United States, and was stationed in the parish of St. Peter’s-St. Denis in Yonkers, NY – again focusing primarily on youth and young adult ministry. In 2017 he moved to the Novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ in Cheshire, CT, where he dedicated himself to development on behalf of the seminary. Finally, in 2019, he moved to Rye, NY where he now resides, primarily dedicating himself to Spiritual Direction and Retreat ministry in the Regnum Christi Movement.
