Talk on The Contribution Of Catholic Anthropology To A Fuller Understanding Of The Human Person By Fr. Anthony Wieck

Talk on The Contribution Of Catholic Anthropology To A Fuller Understanding Of The Human Person By Fr. Anthony Wieck, Wednesday, 27 September, 2023

Please join in for this talk by Father Anthony Wieck who will present on the "The Contribution Of Catholic Anthropology To A Fuller Understanding Of The Human Person".

Since the 16th century, with Bacon and Descartes and later Kant, the human person has been reduced to a willing subject seeking to acquire power over the world as well as self-mastery. This rather reductive view greatly influences the thinking of most moderns today. Catholicism, in contrast, offers a richer, broader, and ultimately more compelling understanding of the human person, one that promises true flourishing for the person. Wherein do these differences lie? Where might you and I be infected by simplistic definitions of what it is to be a human being, and thus undercut the very persons we are called to serve in our mission?
