St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face was the full name of this beloved French saint who is celebrated by so many around the world on October 1st. Much attention is given to her Little Way, but less focus is given to the second part of her name revering the Holy Face of Jesus, yet her family and friends insisted that this was the heart of her spirituality and that this devotion “was the burning inspiration of the Saint's life.“ Thérèse herself shared the depths of this particular devotion in her poem, “Heaven and Earth” by proclaiming, “Your sweet Face Is for me Heaven on earth... Your Face is my only Homeland. It's my Kingdom of Love…”
This talk will explore St. Thérèse’s devotion to Jesus’ Holy Face, what it means for us today, and how it can assist us in loving Our Lord Jesus Christ and all of humanity more fully and deeply as we seek to live out our Catholic faith.
